On January 3, 2006, Eisenhower Medical Center opened the Eisenhower Urgent Care Center at Indian Wells, the first urgent care facility in the city. The City of Indian Wells recently awarded Eisenhower Medical Center a $5 million grant for Campaign Eisenhower, the Center’s capital campaign. “This is Eisenhower’s way of making its health care services even more accessible to Indian Wells residents,” explains Michael D. Landes, President of the Eisenhower Medical Center Foundation. “It’s something substantive we can do for the city’s generous support.” A ribbon cutting and open house was held January 6 at the Eisenhower Urgent Care Center at Indian Wells with representatives of Eisenhower Medical Center and the City of Indian Wells in attendance.
The 3,350 square foot facility will provide a broad spectrum of health care for non lifethreatening conditions, such as flu, colds, sinus infections, sore throats, allergies, earaches, minor cuts, sprains and fractures. Patients with extensive histories of medical problems or emergency conditions such as chest pain, abdominal pain, or other major medical problems should seek care in Eisenhower Medical Center’s Emergency Department, which is better equipped to serve their needs.
The Eisenhower Urgent Care Center at Indian Wells offers convenient, accessible services for illnesses that only require an office visit, rather than a trip to the Emergency Department, where waiting times are longer as patients are prioritized according to emergent needs.
Three other urgent care centers are affiliated with Eisenhower — the Eisenhower Immediate Care Centers in La Quinta and Cathedral City, and the Eisenhower Urgent Care Center in Rancho Mirage. The new Eisenhower Urgent Care Center at Indian Wells will be staffed with physicians, registered nurses, a phlebotomist (for blood draws) and helpful staff to assist patients.
