Supported by a foundation of clinical excellence, comprehensive care, and compassionate, professional staff, Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center is a leader in women’s health care. Accredited as a Breast Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, it is the only facility in the Coachella Valley to achieve the distinction that recognizes excellence in all major aspects of breast diagnostic care.
Professional staff includes two fellowship-trained dedicated breast radiologists, highly trained and certified mammography and ultrasound technologists, and registered nurses to coordinate patient care.
Comprehensive Program Services
Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center provides access to complete breast care, from screening mammography through diagnosis and follow-up.
Screening mammography: With advances in the treatment of breast cancer, the best chance for survival remains early detection — and the key to early detection is annual mammograms. The Center offers state-of-the-art digital mammography equipment enhanced with computer-aided detection software, as well as educational materials to encourage women to be active participants in their health care.
Accurate diagnosis and evaluation: Our fellowship-trained physicians — John Cutrone, MD and Deborah Rubin, MD — and nurse navigators provide our patients with personalized, experienced and expert care. A variety of imaging methods are available to accommodate every woman and her unique needs.
Breast MRI: Eisenhower offers dedicated breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) which may aid in showing spots on the breast that may or may not be cancer. A breast MRI is generally used to complement a mammogram for women with certain conditions, family history or other factors.
Whole breast ultrasound: Eisenhower is the first facility in Southern California to add the ACUSON S2000™ Automated Breast Volume Scanner, a highly advanced, multi-purpose ultrasound system ideally suited to patients with dense breast tissue or a history of breast disease. This 3-D ultrasound technology enables never-before-seen detail resolution and the ability to acquire the unique anatomical coronal plane not available using conventional ultrasound.
Breast Specific Gamma Imaging: Eisenhower was also the first facility in Southern California to offer Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI), a technology that more accurately identifies breast cancer previously undetected by mammography. Clinically proven as an effective device in the early detection of breast cancer, BSGI functions as a complimentary diagnostic tool following difficultto- read mammograms. Patients with dense breast tissue, multiple suspicious lesions, breast implants, a previously diagnosed mass, or those using Hormone Replacement Therapy will benefit most from BSGI.
Sterotactic breast biopsy: This is a safe, minimally invasive biopsy that obtains tiny samples from an identified abnormal breast mass for examination. This outpatient procedure requires no hospitalization or surgical incision and is performed using only local anesthesia.
Bone density screening (Dexa Scan): This comprehensive X-ray measures the strength of your bones and provides important information for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. The test is safe, painless, quick and accurate.
