Joy L. Smith, MMS, PA-C received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. While at Westmont, she gained valuable experience working as a Student Athletic Trainer traveling with many of the athletic teams. Following her undergraduate studies, Smith received her Master’s of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies, with an emphasis in Bioethics, from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
Smith’s clinical rotations proved rewarding, as she developed her skills under the supervisor of top provider in general surgery, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology.
Smith is a certified physician assistant and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the California Academy of Physician Assistants, National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants, and is a lifetime member of the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine.
She is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and spent many summers as a lifeguard and water safety instructor with the American Red Cross.
