Desert Cardiology Center Formally Aligns with Eisenhower Medical Center

As of August 1, Eisenhower Medical Center and Desert Cardiology Center announced their newly licensed relationship as Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center, formally aligning the long-standing relationship between the Medical Center and the physician practice located on the Eisenhower campus.

“Eisenhower Medical Center and Desert Cardiology Center have shared a lengthy history and common vision,” says G. Aubrey Serfling, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Eisenhower will operate Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center as a licensed outpatient clinic of the hospital, allowing physicians to focus on what they do best — providing patients with a truly innovative and integrated, team-oriented approach to cardiovascular care. The physicians and staff at Desert Cardiology Center have a wealth of knowledge and experience that is highly valued by their patients.”

The Center is comprised of 14  Board Certified Cardiologists, many with Board Certified subspecialties within the field of cardiology, including Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.

“Clinically integrating our practice with Eisenhower Medical Center furthers our ability to work closely with hospital administrators to address important patient care initiatives resulting in improved patient care,” says Barry Hackshaw, MD, President, Desert Cardiology Center. “This alignment allows us to attract and retain great physicians, benefiting our community.”

“Patients will experience seamless continuity of care for all of their cardiovascular needs from preventive medicine to surgical needs to cardiac rehabilitation,” says Serfling. “Shared use of electronic medical records will be a valuable component of this continuity of care.”
Established in 1974, Desert Cardiology Center offers a full spectrum of cardiovascular services, including preventive cardiology with hypertension management, and cholesterol management. Desert Cardiology treats all forms of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, valvular heart disease, as well as all types of rhythm disorders which can be managed with pacemakers, defibrillators or ablation procedures. The Center includes a complete diagnostic testing facility located onsite for the convenience of patients. Comprehensive treatment facilities include five exercise stress testing areas, a completely digital vascular laboratory and a state-of-the-art echocardiography laboratory. In addition, Desert Cardiology Center has the only accredited cardiac PET scanner in the area in a fully accredited nuclear laboratory. The Center also offers an onsite anticoagulation clinic and access to Eisenhower’s Glickman Cardiac Care Clinic, the Tamkin Cardiac and Pulmonary Wellness Programs, as well as access to cardiovascular rehabilitation through the Eisenhower Renker Wellness Center.
